I've purchased two trailers from these guys over the past several years and have always enjoyed doing business with them. Elton, the service manager, is very knowledgeable and helpful. They maintain a quality inventory and follow-up is very good. Don't waste your money or time buying a "discount" trailer from a vendor that doesn't specialize in trailers....Pine Ridge Trailers on US 46 between Penntown and Batesville, Indiana is worth a visit!!!
Great Service
Have bought several trailers here... They serve our fleet well... Brett and Elton are great guys that are easy to get along with.
I paid $1,184 for the AC and the electrical supplies needed to install, but it did not come with any temperature control. The AC itself is available online for $450-540. The installation was an additional $320. So I spend $1,500 on this AC unit for it to never work and for the owner to tell me to sue him. Oh, and by the end of 3 months of this, my very nice mattress had completely molded. Another $1,100 down the drain. Oh, and there was the $250 I spent on a dehumidifier.
Here's the situation - what would you think?
I purchased a Dometic air-conditioner from this business and it never worked. It short-cycled from Day 1. Spewed wet air directly into my Featherlite Stock Combo trailer living quarters. So bad that if I laid directly under it, large dew drops would soak my skin, clothes and bedding from the direct flow of air. I woke up more than once in what felt like a wet sweat because the AC short cycled. Featherlite confirmed when I called that the results I was having with the unit were abnormal. They told me they believed the unit was short-cycling. I called Elton and complained and asked what to do. He didn't have a solution other than suggest I talk to Brett. When I called Brett the owner, he insisted that the air-conditioner was working properly. That the problem was my expectations of how it should work. He made several unbelievable statements to me like: in the summer, in KY, all air-conditioners worked like that. I couldn't expect the AC to perform until likely October. He recommended I also run a dehumidifier full time in the 4' living quarters space for this 13,500 BTU AC alone couldn't be expected to keep the humidity out. (Isn't that in part what AC's do? ) I did run a dehumidfier. I was battling 96% humidity inside - I could get it to the 50's with the dehumidifier but it had to run continuosly. It wasn't even that 96% humidity outside ! I bought a meter so I know exactly what the humidity was. I ran the AC full time on high. The hole thing sounded like a horrible wind tunnel because Brett had also told me I needed to run the unit on Full Fan all the time. I could hear the compressor shutting off. Brett insisted it was my expectations of how AC should work in an RV. He told me this problem was typical of ALL RVs. They always molded in the HVAC systems. He said something to the effect that he thought RV's were disgusting. Lastly, he told me to call Dometic direct for a warranty claim. Pine Ridge could not help. When I told him flat out that I thought that he had knowingly lied to me because I had confirmed elsewhere that the expected performance of the unit should be much better. Brett then told me to sue him and hung up on me.
Had a terrible experience with this owner, Brett. I would not recommend this business based on my own experience.
Elton, service tech was very kind, but the bottom line is, he can't make decisions that the owner doesn't support. And the owner chooses to have a big NO WARRANTY disclaimer printed into the bottom of each invoice.
Costs:
When Brett means his business doesn't warranty a product or service, he means it. As a matter of fact, he told me if I had a problem with what they had provided, I needed to sue him.
That's why I wouldn't recommend this business. Not even to buy a postage stamp. I hope this review helps you to avoid a similar situation.
I can't believe that Featherlite uses Pine Ridge as a dealer based on the poor customer experience I had. There is no way that this was a singular experience.
